Proctology

Haemorrhoid banding (Barron method)

Organisational information about the service. A doctor decides on the indications and course after assessing the patient.

What does the procedure involve?

The Barron method, also called rubber band ligation, is a procedural treatment of haemorrhoids performed at Centrum Medyczne Skopia in Kraków.

A rubber band cutting off the blood supply is placed at the base of the haemorrhoid. The haemorrhoid dies off and falls away after several to a dozen or so days. The procedure is repeated depending on the indications.

Every person has haemorrhoidal cushions — together with the sphincter muscles they regulate the passing of stool and gas. They become a problem only once they are stretched and filled with blood beyond measure, and inflammation develops in them. The doctor decides on the treatment method after an examination.

Course and preparation

The doctor carries out the qualification for the procedure during a proctology consultation, which does not require any prior preparation.
