Abdominal ultrasound — scope of the assessment

The examination covers the pancreas, the liver, the gallbladder and bile ducts, the spleen, the kidneys and the adrenal glands. The indications are sometimes abdominal and lower abdominal pain, back pain, heartburn, vomiting, colic, bloating, constipation, anuria and difficulty passing urine.

The examination makes it possible to identify, among others, kidney tumours, bladder tumours, an intestinal tumour, volvulus, kidney stones and liver cancer. The diagnosis is made by the doctor after assessing the whole clinical picture.
