What does the procedure involve?
Orthopaedic ultrasound at Centrum Medyczne Skopia in Kraków assesses muscles, tendons, ligaments, synovial bursae, periarticular tissues and selected peripheral nerves.
The examination makes it possible to view structures in motion, which is why the doctor may ask the patient to perform specific movements with the area being examined. It takes from 15 to 30 minutes, and a dynamic assessment may extend this time.
The result with a report is available immediately after the examination and is discussed with the patient.
The examination is not performed at the site of open wounds, ulcerations, fresh burns or extensive skin infections within the area being examined.
Course and preparation
No preparation is required.
It is worth bringing to the examination:
- earlier imaging results: ultrasound, X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography
- documentation following an injury or procedure involving the area being examined
It is worth wearing clothing that is easy to move aside at the site being examined.
