What does the procedure involve?
Polypectomy is a procedure to remove a polyp performed endoscopically — during a colonoscopy or a gastroscopy at Centrum Medyczne Skopia in Kraków.
Bleeding after the removal of a polyp is prevented by electrocoagulation. The removed polyp should be sent for histopathological examination.
The procedure is performed both on malignant neoplastic polyps and on benign ones — the latter may become neoplastic in the future.
Course and preparation
The preparation is the same as for the endoscopic examination during which the procedure is performed: for a colonoscopy or for a gastroscopy. The recommendations are described on the pages of those examinations.
