Allergology

Allergy consultation

Organisational information about the service. A doctor decides on the indications and course after assessing the patient.

What does the procedure involve?

An allergy consultation at Centrum Medyczne Skopia in Kraków covers the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases in adults.

The clinic deals with allergic asthma, allergic rhinitis, allergic cough, allergic urticaria, food allergies, allergic inflammation of the sinuses, ear and conjunctiva, and dermographism.

The allergens covered in diagnosis are divided into inhalant allergens (dust, pollen, mites, mould), food allergens (cow's milk, hen's eggs, soya, nuts and others), medicines (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, anaesthetic agents) and contact allergens (metals, dyes, preservatives).

The choice of tests is made by the doctor. The clinic performs skin tests — the allergen is applied to the skin and the reading is taken after about 15 minutes — blood tests measuring IgE antibodies to individual allergens, provocation tests with the substance administered intranasally or intrabronchially, Polycheck tests and spirometry.
